Kim!
I just found your website and I really had to write something in your guestbook. I saw you playing with Mike Stern in Stockholm 5 months ago and it was totally wonderful. I have seen other female drummers but no one who has showed off like you did and always with a smile on your face, ahhh....it was awesome to be there at jazzclub Fasching and enjoy teh evening with great music and great musicians. Thank you for giving me a night to remember :-)

keep on enjoying your life and your drumming!

greetings from

Hi Kim, I played in the opening band in Toulouse. We were really under pressure but it was a big honor and pleasure for us to play before you. Unfortunately , I didn't have the time to congratulate for your excellent gig, I had to leave :-(, but it was fantastic. Hey Kim.
I saw you play when i visited NY last spring. You played with Mike Stern on 55 Bar. It was awesome! Being a drummer myself and a student at the conservatory of music, it was really inspiring. (And you look mighty cute too! Hehe) No, seriuosly, you really ran that show. I was really impressed with your power and ferociousness, but also your dynamic range and your subtle ghost notes. It was beautiful! Thank you for a memorable concert! I wish you the best of fortune in the future. S

Word. on a cold but pleasant night in Madrid, you dominated the show, far outshining your "more established" conterparts on stage. You just killed it with the tempo change at the end, and during the more reserved part of your first solo of the second set, you used the hi hat pedal in the most unique way I've seen.

I'm in love. . . thanks for making my week.

I just witnessed Kim's playing (literally) at Sweet Rhythm in NYC. She was killin' during both the 10pm and midnight sets - playing with Wallace Roney, Tim Warfield, Mulgrew Miller and Taurus Mateen. This is the first time that I've seen or heard her play, but rest assured it will not be the last. The emotion and energy that she brings to the music reminds me of why I love jazz so much. Thank you for sharing your talents.

Dear Kim Thompson,
I hope you take the time to read this. I don't know if you remember me or not, but I saw you at the Ritz Theatre in Tiffin, Ohio during the Jazz Summit. I was the drummer from Hopewell-Loudon. Either way, whether you remember me or not, I just wanted to let you know what you have done for me.
Ever since the very first time I picked up a pair of drumsticks, I knew that I was in love with the instrument. I pretty much dedicate my entire life to playing and being involved with music. I have never in my life heard an instrumentalist as talented as you. There have been so many times where I've gotten down and thought I couldn’t do it... Or people have laughed at our music program at our school and called us losers. But it was those moments I shared with you at the summit that reminded me why I love the drums. I only just turned 16, and because of you, I have already learned the best lessons about being faithful to myself and having ambition.
When I came to the concert that night, I never took my eyes or ears off of you and your playing. Every move you made with those sticks was inspiration. I have waited my whole instrumental career to hear someone like you play. You taught me so much in so little time, and I took every word you said and remembered it in hopes to improve my playing. And when you played at the concert... I literally had chills it was so amazing.
After the concert that night, I waited by the autograph table to get your signature and I was hoping for also a hug. Unfortunately, I only had one ride and that ride didn’t want to wait around for me. So...I hated it, but I had to leave.
I have been calling everyone I can think of to try and find a video recording of that show, and if I had it I would watch it over and over and gather as much as I could. Hopefully I do find one soon.
You are a kind and beautiful person, and you have taught me that having faith in yourself is all you need to succeed in what you do.
I would like to thank you, Kim, for taking the time to come to our town (where not many people come) and teach us. You have left a permanent mark in my life, and you truly are my role model.

We hear you practicing ALL the time b/c we live with you. Drums are loud in general, which is negated by the fact that you are exceptional. We like hearing you play the drums. Your awesome. We love you.
